Do People Still Use Travel Agents?

That's a question we get asked a lot at the American Society of Travel Advisors. . Of course, the numbers say the answer is yes!

Travel advisors are an important piece of the travel ecosystem and our supplier proud partners at cruise lines, tour operators, airlines and hotels all know the value travel advisors have for their business!

"They could be more helpful than you may think."

Advisors not only expedite planning, but they can be your back-up should anything go wrong,"

"When a flight is canceled, a hotel reservation is lost, or a natural disaster strikes, they are there to help. Ultimately, their connections can become your conduit to a smoother and more stimulating trip."

What is Gay Travel, and Why?

People might be open about their sexual orientation and gender identity at times, but less so in areas known for violence against LGBT people

The main components of LGBT tourism include: destinations, accommodations, and travel services wishing to attract LGBT tourists; people looking to travel to LGBT-friendly destinations; people wanting to travel with other LGBT people when traveling regardless of the destination; and LGBT travelers who are mainly concerned with cultural and safety issues.

Gay travel means different things to different people.

For some, it simply means travelling to destinations known for their buzzing gay scene, travelling to attend a gay pride event, places where you can meet other LGBTQ+ people, or seeking out local gay bars and clubs.

These are the typically ‘fun’ aspects of gay travel. Think SitgesMykonos and New York – places known to be LGBTQ+ welcoming.

But there is also a darker side to gay travel. It can mean something much more serious when you start to think about safety, cultural, societal and legal issues.

Many people can’t believe that we still fear holding hands in places as safe as the UK. For many heterosexual couples, it’s all too easy to take for granted, but that’s why it’s important to talk about.

We want to shout about those destinations where you can be open and be yourself, the travel companies running gay vacations where you can feel at ease, and why you should travel for pride.
